New Audi LTE Technology

Big news…Audi has developed a faster internet connection with Alcatel-Lucent. The new LTE (long-term evolution) technology is reported to be the fourth generation technology to significantly improve current connections.

Not too sure about the technical workings of the new technologies, but what I do know is that it is going to be 6.8 times faster than the current Global System for Mobile communications (GSM) and the Universal Mobile Telecommunications Standard (UMTS) systems. 3G usually offers internet capabilities of 14.4Mbps, the new LTE technology has been reported to offer almost 100Mbps.

Tested on a new Audi A8L, the fully functioning prototype blew competitors out of the water. Passengers will be able to stream high definition videos quickly and easily. Music and other data will be a breeze for the dynamic, reliable LTE connection technology.

27 year old, Army officer, Captain Jennifer Hollins is getting ready to complete another year with the Royal Signals Motorcycle Display Team. The death defying stunts aboard Triumph motorbikes thrill audiences across the UK from April to September.

Audi A1 Scoops Another Award

Another strong win for Audi, as they scoop themselves their third award in 2011. Audi left the Geneva Motor Show with another prize winner. The new Audi A1 was honoured with CarBuyer's Best Small Luxury Car 2011.

Dusseldorf based tuner Anderson Germany have designed the new Audi R8 Hyper Black addition. It is reported that the new design was inspired by Darth Vader; however to me it looks like a cool Batmobile.

Toyota devastated by the events in Japan

An earthquake and Tsunami devastated Japan on Friday and has frozen an already troubled economy. Toyota, one of the world’s largest carmaker has shut down their plants in Japan, some of which have suffered extensive damage.

Global automotive companies are suggested to be the worst hit with Toyota losing around £2.4million for each day their plant is shut. Reports have said that their annual profit will have been squeezed suggesting this year Toyota will be between 3% and 8% worse off.

Japanese made cars including the Toyota Yaris could be in short supply in the coming months due to production lines temporarily being shut down.

Triumph Motorbikes used for Great Escape 2 Trip

On Saturday the 4th of June 9 riders plan to take the route of Squadron Leader Bushell through Europe, on the Great Escape 2 Trip. The rider will be aboard Triumph Motorbikes to play homage to the famous file, the Great Escape.

The trip is being organised to raise money for Help for Heroes and The Royal British Legion charities. The riders will endeavour to complete the journey within 2 weeks, covering over 3,000 miles.

Fundraisers hope that the trip will raise £10,000 to assist in the car of our UK troops today and it will be divided between the two charities. The aim is also to remember those that were Prisoner of War during World War II.

Riders have been given Triumph motorbikes for the duration of the journey, starting the trip at former RAF Biggin Hill. Stops will include Trier train station and Ypres for the riders to attend the Last Post Parade before heading home.

The Triumph bikes that have been donated for the adventure include Boneville models and a Triumph T100. The T100 has been developed to look similar to the one Steve McQueen used in the iconic scene to jump the barbed wire fence. GForces Web Management welcomes Rodney Scrase

Flt/Lt Rodney Scrase attended car dealer web management, GForces, Corbin Park office on Tuesday 8th March 2011. Flt/Lt Rodney Scrase, Jimmy Corbin and Peter Ayerst are veterans that are held close to the companies heart and opened GForces new offices at Corbin Park on July 20th 2007.

Rodney is involved with Biggin Hill’s museum and told staff about the hold ups that are inevitable with any new project. He left the office a signed copy of his latest book compiled by Angus Mansfield; ‘Spitfire Saga’ Rodney Scrase DF. The book contains collaborations of his log books written more than 60 years ago.

Ford have reached their 100th birthday in the UK. The manufacturer is loved by Britain’s and has established a reliable reputation over the years.

New Kia Sportage gets Sportier

Kia are about to launch their newest addition to their Sportage range. The new model, the Kia Sportage SX Turbo will be complete with a Theta II two litre Turbo Gas Direct Injection engine.

Toyota Prius smashes 3million milestone

Prius have unsurprisingly hit global sales of over 3million hybrids. Toyota is ecstatic with the news of these impressive sales. When I think about a hybrid car the first car that comes to mind is the Prius and figures are showing why.

Toyota is a Japanese automaker that challenged the notion of driving when it launched its first mass produced hybrid vehicle in 1997. Since then sales gradually increased and have sky rocketed in the last few years.

The Prius is a cost cutting option when it comes to escalating fuel bills. Toyota reported that 3.03million vehicles had been sold globally from data dated 28th February 2011. Great news for Toyota and great news for the environment. When compared with petrol engine models, the 3million vehicles sold will account for CO2 emissions reducing by 18 million tonnes.

Subaru Impreza transforms into Crossover

Subaru are going to use their much loved Impreza design to produce a crossover version. The exciting new crossover is named the Subaru XV and will more than your typical Impreza.

Fully fitted with all the mod cons, including cruise control and auto aircon which come as standard. The new crossover version of the Impreza is all wheel drive complete with Subaru’s two litre, four cylinder, 16 valve DOHC Boxer engine.

Bucket sports seats add to the air of freedom for me and the spectacular rear roof spoiler adds to the sport theme. Sporty bumbers and black aluminium roof rails are also features that cannot be missed. I particularly enjoy the comment from one of their marketers, Grant Bowring who says: "a go anywhere, conquer anything vehicle with a kick-butt attitude".

The XV will also feature an antilock braking system with electronic brake force distribution. These types of driving aids enhance safety without compromising on driving performance. I would like to take the new Impreza and XV for test drives to see where the similarities lie.

VW Golf is best selling car of the month

Figures have shown that the Volkswagen Golf was the UK’s bestselling car during the month of February. Unsurprising as many of my friends own or have recently bought a VW Golf in Kent. I am looking at ways to reduce my cost of motoring as I have to travel for work.

The entire automotive market showed a 7.7% decline in the month of February compared to the same time last year. Volkswagen managed to sell an impressive 2,709 Golfs with second place Vauxhall Corsa selling almost 100 cars less.

The figures emphasise Volkswagens reputation for quality and reliability. The Golf is highly recommended by the friends of mine that own one and suggest I get involved with the Golf crew. I have been looking at the new VW BlueMotion technology and it looks like a new Golf could really save me money.

I think I am going to visit my local VW Kent dealer for some friendly advice to minimise my motoring costs and take a look at the great range that they seem to offer. The Golf isn’t a best seller for nothing so I think I will have to take it for a test drive to see what the fuss is about.

New Suzuki Kizashi is making its way to the UK

Suzuki has announced that the stunning new Kizashi saloon will go on sale in the UK towards the end of the year. The manufacturer has been reluctant to present the model to UK motorists before as the vehicle is only available in a 2.4 litre petrol engine. Kizashi means ‘A sign of great things to come’ in Japanese and I'm sure Suzuki hope that the name/meaning will prevail.

I wonder how the UK will react to having such a limited choice and no diesel options available. I believe Suzuki are taking a huge risk with this one as economical/green driving has never been more prominent. Perhaps that highlights Suzuki's reasoning for producing just 500 models per year in the UK. The model was launched in the USA and Japan last year in two driving formats however Suzuki will only be offering the four wheel drive to UK motorists.

The petrol powered family car is a completely new design and is the first Suzuki D-segement model to enter the UK market. New Ford Focus is a great listener

Ford has produced the loved talking car from the 80’s, KIT. Well maybe not the actual KIT we all know and love but the new Ford Focus (that we all know and love) will be able to accept verbal commands come 2012.

Ford has produced an updated version of the Sync car communication system. the system allows drivers to verbally command communication outputs, satnav and audio systems. The clever system can read out your text messages and even alter the temperature of the car, all without you taking your eyes off the road.

Coming to the UK in 2012, the system is still robotic sounding but that is where its junior attributes end. The system is capable of understanding 10,000 different commands in 19 selected languages. Ford even argues that the new system will be able to extract commands from regional accents too.

Powell to take on 2011 Formula Renault UK series

This is one for the ladies. Alice Powell, a female motor racing champion has signed with Manor Competition for the 2011 Formula Renault UK series.

Formula Renault UK is the leading single-seater championship in this country. The championships have launched the careers of great Formula 1 racing drivers, including Lewis Hamilton. The signing is great for Alice Powell as the events are covered by television media and will be great coverage for the 18 year old.

Alice Powell commented: "I am delighted to be working with Manor again... the team know how I work and, hopefully, together we can produce the right results in 2011.”

Alice is great inspiration for all those female drivers out there. She is the first female to win a Formula Renault race and to win a Formula Renault Championship. She has won many competitions during her career so far.

Fiat 500 Coupe Zagato pops out in yellow

Fiat has joined forces with Zagato to produce the new Fiat 500 Coupe Zagato. The new concept follows the styling of the much loved 500 but Zagato have added their own flare to the model.

Not too sure if this concept will actually go into production. Although Fiat have not announced details about whether the concept car will be made, the concept in its self, managed to wow the audience at the Geneva Motor Show.

The ‘Pop Yellow ‘exterior is striking and the black trimmings add great contrast to the model. This 500 is more aggressive yet produces a mere 95g/km of CO2 from its TwinAir two-cylinder engine. Zagato has incorporated a traditional double hump roof, a symbol of Zagato design.

New Toyota FT-86 II better than before

Toyota unveiled their latest FT-86 concept at the 2011 Geneva Motor show. Much of the original concept has been altered in some way, but for the better.

Toyota has reported that this FT-86 is the most detailed explanation of the production model to date. The design concept sports a lowered bonnet with high wings and a rear-set cabin. The moody personality exudes drama and hints towards an unforgettable driving experience.

Toyota has thought about the driver when building this model. The concept is powered by the rear wheels and a six-speed manual gearbox. Performance specifications have not yet been released si can’t tell you about that just yet.

The full production ready model will be presented at the Tokyo Motor Show in December. It is rumoured that the model will be ready for sale in 2012. The engine is impressive in its own right, sporting a new concept turbocharged three-cylinder 900cc petrol engine capable of mirroring a 1.6litre engines performance. Alfa Romeo 4C steals the show

Another beautiful concept is unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show. The new Alfa Romeo 4C is much smaller than expected by the motoring press. The production model hopes to be released at the beginning of 2012, I am hoping that it will be at my local car dealer in Kent.

The new Alfa Romeo 4C is described to much smaller and lighter than a Ford Focus. The wheelbase is a tiny 2.4m and the vehicle weighs less than 850g. Surely this stunner will be great on the fuel economy with stats like that.

With a lick of dusty red matte paint the new 4C glistens on the Alfa Romeo stage. It is rumoured that the chassis will be made out of new carbon fibre materials.

For those speed freaks out there the new Alfa Romeo 4C accelerates from rest to 62MPH in a remarkable 5 seconds. The concept has been reported to be capable of reaching top speeds of 155MPH. Not surprising that the coupe can produce these results when you consider the direct-injected turbo four-cylinder engine. This could possibly explain the 4C name.

Here’s to hoping they will sell these cars in Maidstone or something similar at my local car dealer in Ashford. Rumours have suggested that the model will be priced around €40,000 but nothing officially announced as of yet.

February looked to be an impressive month for Audi. Audi of America announced that their sales rose by 25% when compared with February 2010.

New Skoda image is greener than ever!

So, Skoda have unveiled a new look on the first day of the Geneva Motor Show. They have rejuvenated their brand identity to accommodate the modern automotive market.

The new marketing strategy will aim to increase their sales in the coming years and gain them a bigger chunk of the automotive market.

The new logo will appear on their models from 2012. The current ‘natural’ green has been binned and replaced with a more prominent ‘Skoda Green’ on the winged arrow image. I wonder if we will be able to notice the difference.

GForces help more than just auto dealer websites

GForces took part in their first team half marathon on Sunday 27th March. The team ran/walked the 13.1 mile course to raise money for charity.

GForces supported Lifestyle Europe Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon with almost 2,000 others. GForces develops car dealer websites, and yet are not afraid to use their feet rather than their wheels for the charitable cause.

Participants received their medals from Dame Kelly Holmes who arrived to show her support. The runners were lucky enough for the Kent sun to shine on them before the wicked weather took over in the afternoon.

The creators of auto dealer websites arrived at their desks with aching limbs on Monday morning, but commented that it “was well worth it”. Big congratulations to all that took part. Helping to create a sustainable future without talking ‘green’ this time!
