I have recently heard that the government are going to make it illegal to keep a car that is not insured whether it is being driven or not, sort of like the rules for road tax I guess.It is about time. Stats show that over 23,000 people are injured or killed by uninsured drivers. Motoring Law deems that it is currently illegal to drive a car with no insurance but it is difficult to track as the government wouldn’t know if the car is being used. Now unless the car is declared off the road, it will be a legal requirement to insure the vehicle.
This is something I will have to keep an eye on as I don’t always insure my car straight away for the period I do not use it. I’m going to contact my local Kent solicitors, Gullands to see if they can give me any more information.
