The New Bentley Mulsanne Is My Lottery Car
I have recently been looking at top end cars in my spare time and really trying to come to grips with that question…If you won the lottery what car would you buy? After a lot of research I came across the new Bentley Mulsanne, which to be honest if you were going to buy a car to flash the only way to go would be Bentley.
Over 50% of the Bentley Mulsanne is hand crafted and each vehicle is built in around two months which highlights the effort that goes into this Bentley. This indicates that the Mulsanne is not mass produced in any way and the level of attention Bentley gives to their models. Inside the cabin you will find top quality wood veneers, leather flourishes complete with new innovations and new technologies.
The Bentley Mulsanne sports a 6.75 litre V8 engine producing 505bhp and generates an impressive 1020Nm of torque. The engine is then supported by an eight speed automatic gear box with quick shift.
The modern classic has the potential to save around 15% on CO2 emissions and fuel economy when compared to the previous engine. The Mulsanne also has the ability to make four of the eight cylinders idle whilst the car is in cruising mode improving fuel economy further.
The Bentley Mulsanne is definitely something to aspire to in the future.

New Honda Concept Expected In Tokyo
It is rumoured that we may see new concept version of the Honda NSX debut at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show. The 42nd Tokyo Motor Show will be hosted in Japan during the beginning of December where the new Honda is thought to be unveiled.
Automotive production has suffered in Japan over the last year due to the earthquake that hit the country at the beginning of the year. Therefore news of a new version of the Honda NSX shows promising to the industry. Sadly estimated timescales of new models have been affected, meaning this new model may not be released as early as was first thought.
Mibe Toshihiro, Honda's Research and Development chief has confirmed the new sportscar so we know something is on its way but we are just unsure when. Honda have been working on electric and hybrid models so it is expected that the new sportscar may incorporate a hybrid powertrain.
The original Honda NSX was first launched in 1990 with Ferrari being part of the inspiration for the model at the time. We are hoping that CO2 emissions will be reduced and fuel economy will be improved and if it does turn out to be a hybrid model this will go without saying.
Engines have yet to be confirmed, however Honda dealer Berkshire are already getting excited for the possibility of the new supercar. We will have to await more teasing information and perhaps say hello to the concept in Tokyo at Decembers Motor Show.

Vauxhall VXR8 Wins Most Improved MPG
The new Vauxhall VXR8 was awarded the title of ‘Best Improvement Percentage’ at the two day Fleet World MPG Marathon event in the Cotswolds. Drivers managed to increase the mile to gallon by 53% at this UK event.
The two day event is also known as the ALD Automotive/Shell FuelSave mileage marathon based in the UK. It is quite an achievement for the revised V8 powered 431bhp performance car to win the economy marathon. The 2011 revisions included refreshed styling and a variety of new features including new technologies.
Chris Mooney, Top Gear Online editor drove the Vauxhall VXR8 with helpful navigation from Andrew Duerden during the longest running economy driving event in the UK. The official combined figure is 21mpg but the duo managed to achieve a 53% increase to 32.1mpg.
This would prove extremely difficult for an everyday driver to achieve as the Vauxhall would have been driven very different to that of most motorists. The driving style is one of the most important factors to achieving an improved fuel economy. The tests covered a route of about 350 miles. The VXR8 was taken across motorways, A roads and B roads.
A presentation will be held at the Royal Automobile Club in Pall Mall, London to present Chris Mooney and Andrew Duerden an accolade for their victory amongst other winners from the event.
This is an impressive achievement however I’m not sure that I will see this Vauxhall in Stoke on Trent very much in the future. The model has shown great improvements during this test however we need to remember that the Vauxhall has been titled the most improved and not the most economic.

New Volvo Connectivity App
I have only just noticed that Volvo is offering an intelligent connectivity system with all new Volvo cars from the model year 2012. The new system is in the form of a mobile app with which motorists will be able to access areas of their vehicle.
I am after a new Volvo V70 in Hereford complete with this new system, which is an extension of Volvo On Call. The application is free to download from iPhones and Android smartphones.
The connectivity possibilities via this new app are extremely impressive. The main feature of this app for many motorists will be the car locator. The Volvos location can be shown on a map complete with a digital compass to aid the search. The horn and indicators can also be accessed if needed.
For those moments when drivers think they may have forgotten to lock the car, the app displays the current status of the Volvos doors and windows. It then allows you to lock and unlock them via the app.
Vehicle information such as registration number and VIN number are stored on the app together with a driving journey of the last 40 days. These actions can be downloaded within the 40 day time frame and stored for later use.
Fuel levels, average speed, theft notification and health checks are among a number of other features and systems that the connectivity app can access and control. Looking forward to using the app and reviewing its full potential.

Aston Martin is Named the UK's Coolest Brand
Aston Martin has been voted the UK’s coolest brand in this year’s Superbrands survey. This is the second year running that Aston Martin has claimed this title and the fifth time they have claimed it in six years. Even Apple came second.
It is no surprise that Aston Martin has been named the UK’s coolest brand considering their close connection with 007. Aston Martin super cars have appeared in James Bond films and their success with motorsport across the years which may have helped develop their ‘cool’ status.
When you take a look at something like the Aston Martin DB9 it is clear to see that their models exude cool style and class. Aston Martin is a brand that people look to aspire to and look to associate themselves with such a luxurious brand.
Stephen Cheliotis, chairman of the CoolBrands Expert Council, describes Aston Martin as “Smooth, sexy and sophisticated; British built, high quality and hand finished, let’s be honest, young or old, male or female, opinion former or British public, who wouldn’t aspire to own what is truly the coolest car on the road. Number one in five of the last six years, this British icon is truly the coolest of the cool.”
Superbrand was founded in 1995 in London. The conduct independent research and collected around 2,000 votes from consumers, marketing experts and various business people across the UK.

Coming Soon - New Hyundai i30
The all new Hyundai i30 is said to be more economical than before. The model will be available with three diesel and three petrol engines when it is launched early next year as a five door hatchback only.
Complete with Hyundai’s Blue Drive technologies the new i30 will be more economical and produce fewer CO2 emissions. The 1.6 litre diesel will be the most efficient and therefore is expected to be the most popular variant. Complete with low rolling resistance tyres, Integrated Stop &Go and an alternator management system this engine only emits 99g/km of CO2.
The new model has also been given a face lift with a curvy new body. Hyundai’s new design philosophy includes ‘fluidic sculpture’ that embraces their new design language ‘New Thinking, New Possibilities’.
Thomas Bürkle, Chief Euro designer said: 'The new-generation i30 is recognisable thanks to the Hyundai family face with its signature hexagonal-shaped front grille and the jewel-like design of the headlamps, together with distinctive daytime running lights…These lights present an angular shape within a more softly-edged recess, adding a strong personality to the vehicle, as well as a sense of refinement and luxury.'
